Police are investigating an incident in which a secondary school student allegedly committed suicide in Migori town after being dumped by her boyfriend.
Oruba area Assistant Chief Charles Ouma said the student had been chatting with the boyfriend the previous night before her body was found dangling in her room.
Chief Ouma said the girl, was a form two student at Nyangubo secondary in Suna West Sub County.
According to the chief, the teenager had received a message on her phone from the boyfriend calling to an end their relationship.
The distraught girl is said to have informed her friends that she was considering suicide to end her life.
“She was in good mood when I left for work, I never knew she had any problem,” her mother Mary Adhiambo said.
The family noticed the girl had not opened the door as she normally did in the morning but upon peeing through the bedroom window they saw the body dangling from a rafter using a rope.
The body has been transferred to Migori Level Five morgue as police continue with investigations.
