Through a press statement signed by the director of the governor’s press and shared on Sang’s Facebook page on Sunday evening, the governor was on an entire day at his home with his family and was not aware of any warrant to arrest him.

The statement further stated that Sang was ready to present himself to any investigative authority anytime he will be required to do so.

“The governor is not aware of any warrants of arrest or summons to appear before investigative authorities. As a law-abiding Citizen, he is willing to voluntarily present himself to the said authorities if and when called upon. And therefore the rumours going around that the governor has been arrested are baseless and unfounded,” reads part of the statement.

Governor Sang who on  Saturday led a section of Nandi residents and his supporters in clearing a 4 acre Tea plantation on Friday has been on the spotlight and his move has elicited mixed reactions.

The residents and the governor claim that the land was grabbed from the community and it was meant for construction of a cattle dip.

Although the statement said that the governor will address the media at his office on Monday, the county government maintained that the land belonged to the community.

“As a county government we established through survey maps and area lists that are available at both the director of survey offices in Nairobi and the land registry in Kapsabet that indeed the parcels belong to Kaburet cattle dip,” the letter maintained.
