While reacting to reports that Raila was furious with his MPs who backed the controversial Finance Bill 2018, Wetang'ula ridiculed the ODM leader wondering what kind of opposition leader he was if he could go out of his way to endorse the proposals by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a post on his Twitter account, the FORD-K leader said it was a "wonder" for the leader of opposition to whip his legislators into supporting an agenda of the government.

"The latest wonder of the world: "Opposition leader" wants to punish his opposition MPs for embarrassing him by opposing Government. Talk of wailing louder than the bereaved!!" Wetang'ula said on Wednesday.

But in a quick rejoinder, ODM director of communications Philip Etale dismissed the remarks saying the former Prime Minister won't be dragged into "pettiness" as he was focussed on the Building Bridges Initiative.

"Omwami on this one you are very wrong. There's nothing of the sort. @RailaOdinga is busy working on how to unite the nation and ensure bad things are fixed. He has no time for sideshows and pettiness Sir," replied Etale.

The ODM spokesperson further accused Wetang'ula of spreading lies and asked Kenyans not to take him seriously.

"When an indecisive leader takes to social media and turns into an armchair critic peddling lies and is always full of hot air, to me such a person should not be taken seriously. It is obnoxious and tactless to whip emotions by spreading lies to the masses. That is juvenile," Etale said.
