Youth for Kanu '92 popularly known as YK'92 was an influential group of politicians that was formed with an objective of rallying support for the retired President Daniel Torotich Arap Moi.

This was prior to the first multiparty election since Kenya acquired her independence. 

However, the lobby group was largely accused of being architects behind the ethnic violence directed to Kikuyu residents in the Southern and Central parts of the Rift Valley Province. 

Deputy President William Ruto and former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo are probably the most prominent members of the youth group to hold eminent national positions. Jirongo vied for Presidency in 2017 but lost terribly.

In a span of 20 years, DP Ruto rose from the obscurity of the YK'92 to capture the then Eldoret North Parliamentary seat in 1997. He captured the seat from President Moi's relative Reuben Chesire.

 In 2013, Ruto and the son of Kenya 's first President, Uhuru Kenyatta struck a deal that would see them form a formidable alliance against that of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Despite facing criminal charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) after being accused of violence against humanity following the 2007-2008 Post Election violence, they won the 2013 General Election. 

The duo seemed to be the chosen ones for Kenyans when they were reelected in 2017, an election that saw their first victory nullified by the Supreme Court of Kenya.

 Today, Ruto is a heartbeat away from the country's biggest job. The political genius as many refers him has been seen strategising for his presidential 2022 bid.
