Kakamega twins, Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo, Mevis Imbayi on Saturday went 'missing' denying journalists the golden opportunity to interview them after the release of their DNA results.
Reports indicate the twins with their mothers were immediately whisked off to an unidentified location immediately they left Lancet Kenya offices in Nairobi.
According to Edaily a vehicle allegedly belonging to the Lancet group of laboratories was used to ferry them to the undisclosed location.
However, the move was reportedly meant to block journalists from interviewing the girls and their families on their next moves after the release of the much awaited results.
Amid the developments, it could not be immediately determined on how long they will remain holed up in the undisclosed locations.
Sharon Mitekwa, Melon Lutenyo and Mevies Imbaya arrived at Lancet Kenya offices in Upper Hill 5th Ngong Avenue, Nairobi a few minutes to 12 noon on Saturday, June 15 accompanied by their family members.
All the three girls, who were under keen public focus, covered their faces as they dodged camera shutter sounds while entering the offices.
The DNA findings contained in the Lancet report indicates that Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo are biological sisters who were separated at birth.
“They share identical DNA profiles, with the 23 allelic loci tested show 100% perfect match, which is consistent with the two being biologically twins,” the Lancet report reads in part as quoted by Edaily.
