Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i seems to be losing grip among Nyamira leaders following latest endorsements in favour of DP William Ruto.
Dr Matiang'i, who hails from Nyamira, has been tipped to be a possible presidential candidate in 2022. In recent weeks, he has been at loggerheads with DP Ruto, a move that had hugely created differences among Abagusii leaders.
But on Friday, Dr Ruto was endorsed for 2022 Presidential elections, a move that could force Dr Matiang'i to go back to the drawing board.
"You came here with the president in 2017, you tasked us to deliver and we did. In 2022, we shall reciprocate again. Nobody is going to intimidate us," Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose said.
West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi also endorsed Dr Ruto, arguing that his continued support towards churches will not go unrewarded.
"I want to assure you that no matter how they are going to plot, no matter the plans to change the constitution, we shall stand with you," he said, remarks which were backed by MPs Joash Nyamoko and Jerusha Momanyi.
However, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi seemed reserved for his support, arguing that it's time for leaders to work for the people before 2022 polls.
"We have to deliver our mandate. It's not time for Kieleweke and Tangatanga. Let's first work and in 2022, we shall pick the best performer," he said.
Dr Ruto had launched West Mugirango Technical Training Institute before commissioning West Mugirango constituency offices. He will end his tour at Nyamiranga Secondary School for fundraiser of 15 SDA Churches.
