Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has poked holes in the ongoing graft war by the state, insisting that DCI George Kinoti is being used to cartail an individual's 2022 ambitions.
According to the Elgeyo-Marakwet County senator, those behind the 'fake' corruption war, are out to paint a certain community as corrupt, adding that Kimwarer and Aror dams scandal is a classic example of pretense.
"I urge the DCI that before he embarks on any investigations of this nature, they should engage experts with the necessary knowledge on these types of contracts and how such projects are implemented."
"It is unfortunate that the project is being weaponised as a tool for 2022 political fights. It saddens me when I see the labeling of Kenyan citizens based on their ethnic identity as corrupt and the massive operation being mounted against one individual’s political ambitions," said Murkomen, without directly mentioning the targeted individual.
Mr Murkomen, a close ally of DP Ruto who is a Front-runner to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, insisted that the investigative agencies are now being used as tools to settle political scores.
He insisted that the state should change it's tactic if at all it's serious to bring culprits into book, adding that the current approach is 'too personal'.
"I urge everyone servant of this country to desist from using public office and resources to fight political wars. Politics should be done politically by politicians and such other matters of the state such as the fight corruption and national development should done objectively," added Mr Murkomen.
At the same time, Deputy President William Ruto also questioned the Sh21 billion scandal in the two projects on Thursday, insisting that no more had been lost despite the ongoing probe by the DCI.
And even with the rebellion, a furious President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday at Murang'a, warned that the DCI could make high profile arrests soon since 'Kenyans are tired'.
