A plot to bar Deputy President William Ruto from contesting the presidency in 2022 caused a stir in Parliament as Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale weighed in on the matter.

Duale maintained that DP Ruto would be on the ballot and any attempt to exclude him would fail as it would be unconstitutional.

He accused the architects of the plot of harbouring a wild dream and advised them to channel their energies to 'constructive' things.

"Honourable Ouda is trying to say that the Deputy President cannot vie for president in 2022 and that is a wild dream, a very wild dream. William Ruto will ultimately be on the ballot paper. Those out there who are so mesmerised, who are so confused because they do not how to stop William Ruto. This House has better things to do," Duale said.

Duale spoke on the floor of Parliament last week.

He opposed a petition by the MP of Kisumu Central Ouda that sought to bar DP Ruto from running in 2022.
