In line with Catholic church practices, the Mill Hill priest had chosen Nyabururu Parish cemetery in his will and will be laid to rest on Thursday.

"We are expecting his remains on Wednesday at Gucha for public viewership before we ferry him to Nyabururu Parish for burial," Father Lawrence Nyaanga confirmed.

Father Omboto was killed by government soldiers in the troubled anglophone region of Ambazonia even though the Cameroon government has defiantly denied the claims.

And for the Gusii Catholic church, the incident should be a wake up call you all governments to protect missionaries.

"It is sad that a young priest can be killed in such a cruel manner. We are told that he even tried to run around the church to save his life. Governments should protect missionaries."

Bishop Andrew Nkea of Mamfe Diocese in Cameroon released the body last week on Thursday to Kenya in line with Catholic church traditions.

Thousands of pilgrims are expected to gather in Nyabururu Parish for Thursday's burial which will be presided over by Bishop Joseph Mairura.
