The leaders who visited the President at State House on Tuesday last week said that Ukambani region has been left behind in terms of development.

The Kamba leaders presented a list of development projects they want the president to initiate and complete.

Here is the list of projects Ukambani leaders want President Kenyatta to spearhead in Ukambani region;

1. Fast-track completion of the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi-Kandwia-Gatunga-Usueni Road.

2. Fast-track completion of Wakithuki Irrigation scheme in Tseikuru in Mwingi-Kitui

3. Rehabilitation  of Tseikuru Airstrip in Mwingi 

4. Complete construction of Mwingi water and sanitation projects systems. The Italian funded the project but has stalled.

5. Activation of coal mining project in Mui basin, Mwingi, Central-Kitui

6. Upgrading of Emali-Ukia Road across Kibwezi West and Kaiti, Makueni.

7. Government to source market for Green grams, cow-peas and pigeon peas farmers in Lower Eastern.
