A woman has been admitted at a hospital in Migori County after her husband chopped off one of her fingers using a machete.

43-year-old Monica Otieno is recovering at the Migori Level Four hospital after the Wednesday, January 2 incident at their home in Rapogi, in Migori County.

She says that the incident followed a domestic wrangle with Maurice Otieno, the husband, with whom they have been married for 26 years.

Uriri OCPD Benjamin Mwanxia confirmed the incident by saying that they have launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled after the unspeakable act and remains at large.

Ms Monica told the Citizen Digital on Saturday that she had just returned to her matrimonial home after a period of separation before the attack, having moved out last year.

She, however, came back on December 30 after reconciling with the suspect, but he later told her that he was not interested in the marriage was in love with another woman. 

They had to hold an urgent meeting as a result, in order to resolve their problems, but things went out of control on the night of Wednesday when the suspect attacked her with a panga.

She sustained panga cuts on the back, in addition to her cut finger.
