Children are precious angels deemed to be a blessing from God, and as a society we must protect them from everything that comes in their way, and keep them happy and protected.

Emily Atieno Adongo is a little angel who was born on 28th May 2014 into a humble family in Nyakach, Kisumu county.

She is the 5th born in a family of eight whose tribulations began immediately she was born as she was diagnosed with Type 1 Truncus Arteriosus, a situation where the heart has holes.

This life threatening disease saw Emily survive a heart surgery as she struggled to find treatment to fix the holes in her heart through tough financial conditions.

This little brave soul laid on the bed comatose for seven hours, with over seven surgeons, slicing her heart apart and fixing it in India  and after two harrowing months of arduous medical attention, the little warrior was sent back to Kenya to continue with treatment and that was when another nightmare began.

The procedures in India cost her family approximately Sh1.6 million, that was gathered the hard way, with her poor and dejected mother standing by the little girl all the way even in the face of horror and financial blackouts.

Those who understand parenthood agree that as a parent nothing hurts more than seeing your child in pain, and since illness does not decide on whom to come upon anyone can be in such a situation.

After 2 months of expensive treatment in India she needs Sh50, 334 to buy medicine she direly needs; Bosentan that goes for Sh6,667, Sildenafil Sh 4,500, Colsprin Sh 3, 500, and ThyroxineSh 2, 500.

Little Emily hopes to use these drugs for a period of two months before some form of other help trickles into her humble home, and since we make a living by what we get, and make a life by what we give, we can stand with Emily and support her in whichever way available and bring back a bright future for her.
