Speaking in Mbale, Vihiga County, on Wednesday, Murathe, who is President Uhuru Kenyatta's confidant urged Ruto to drop his bid and retire alongside Uhuru.

Ruto has deputized Uhuru for two terms since their first election to office in the 2013 general polls, with Uhuru headed for retirement as per the two term constitutional requirement.

Murathe further bashed Ruto for demanding too much from the President, in what now brings out more hidden in-house wrangles between the two leaders of the nation.

"He cannot get his portion of the government according to his initial agreement with the President and then come back later demanding for more," he said.

He further cautioned the DP against expecting the Central Kenya vote in 2022.

He said that the region has no agreement with him.

Murathe added that the DP should settle the issue with Uhuru who apparently vowed to back him in his bid and leave the community out of it.

"Let me make it clear that we as Central Kenya had not memorandum of understanding with him that we would support him in 2022.

"If he had an agreement with the President then that's their own issue, we are not party to it," he added, according to Citizen Digital.

He was speaking when he accompanied a section of Western Kenya leaders led by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader and Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli for the Maragoli Cultural Festival.

Other leaders present were Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and a host of other leaders.

This comes at a time when the President seems to have found a new friend on opposition leader Raila Odinga who is also expected to join the race at a later date.
