Activist Boniface Mwangi who unsuccessfully vied for the Starehe MP seat in Nairobi during the August 8 general election said the claims that Owuor has healing power may compel people not to go to hospital and subsequently die because of lack of treatment.

"Prophet Owour two-day healing crusade is over, journalists should track down those people who claimed they were healed and tell the true stories!" Mwangi tweeted on Sunday evening after Owuor's two-day prayer event came to a close at  Nairobi Uhuru Park grounds.

"Patients were withdrawn from hospitals to attend the crusade, were they healed? visit Kenyatta hospital and city mortuary for answers."

There have been claims by a section of people who have attended the cleric's prayers that he may not actually be healing as he alleges.

Owuor is known for his miracles of 'healing' the sick, especially in prayer rallies in which thousands of people usually attend.

He has a huge following in Kenya and internationally.

The cleric moves in a convoy of cars and is mostly accorded VIP protection with police attached to his convoy wherever he has prayer sessions anywhere in the world.
