Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has confirmed that he is not going to defend his MP seat in 2022.
Speaking during an interview on Tuesday morning at a local FM station, Onyonka said he is eyeing for Kisii gubernatorial seat no matter what.
"I'm not going to defend my MP seat. I want to vie for a bigger seat because I have all it takes to run for Kisii county's top seat come 2022," he said.
He said his rivals who have been eyeing the MP seat should start preparing to run for the MP seat which he won't be defending.
"There are youthful people in Kitutu Chache South who should go for the MP seat. Now that I'm exiting to run for a bigger seat, rivals will have free time to try their luck to succeed me," he stated.
According to the MP, he doesn't mind losing Kisii gubernatorial seat.
"Even I lose I don't care. I have to run for a bigger seat come 2022," he added.
The vocal MP decamped from ODM party to Ford Kenya party during the 2017 polls.
