According to Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, the MPs mostly from the National Assembly Sports Committee traveled to Russia to assess and learn on how international tournaments are planned and conducted.s

Echesa said officials from the Sports Ministry are not in Russia.

Munyaka is a member of the National Assembly's Sports committee and is among others who will watch France vs Croatia match live on Sunday.

Kenyans have reacted angrily at the MPs trip to Russia saying it was not necessary.

Majority of Kenyans claim that the MPs should have been allowed to travel on their own expenses and not from taxpayers coffers.

On Thursday, National Assembly speaker Justin Maturi confirmed that the 20 MPs are in Russia.

He said that MPs will prepare a report once they jet back after the World Cup.

It Is estimated a whopping Sh50 million has been spent on the 20 legislators in terms of travel, accommodation, meals and stadium tickets.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga who is in Russia has since denied claims that her trip was funded by the taxpayers' money.

Omanga said she saved for her trip to Russia.

The 2018 World Cup curtains fall on Sunday with the final game pitting France and Croatia.
