DP Ruto while speaking on Saturday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret town during the first anniversary for the late Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Cornelius Korir said maize farmers who haven't been paid after they sold their produce to NCPB will be paid in the next one week.

"The government has released Sh2.1 billion to pay maize farmers in the next one week. I am warning NCPB against paying rogue maize farmers. Eligible maize farmers should be paid the money to enjoy their hard work," he said.

Ruto insisted that cartels won't have room to divert the money into their own pockets.

According to the DP, maize farmers contribute a lot to the growth of this country's economy and therefore, the growers should not be taken for granted.

"As government we are not ready to take the hard work of maize growers for granted because they contribute a lot to the growth of this country's economy. Cartels are advised to keep off the agricultural sector," he added.

He warned NCPB officials against engaging in corruption saying they will be sacked, arrested and arraigned in court to be charged over corruption and abuse of office.
