For the 54 years since our forbearers made the early strides into independence, Kilifi has not felt the full benefits of statehood, this is according to Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

On too many occasions, Joho said past governments did not miss any opportunity to forget Kilifi.

"Sessional paper 10 of 1965, entrenched this regional disparity by recommending public investment in only high yield areas. The new constitution, that was fought for by Raila Odinga and other patriots, brought devolution than began a new journey in resource allocation for this country and county," he said on June 8, 2017.

The Mombasa governor made the statement when he was hosted by the Governor of Kilifi County Amason Kingi, the NASA team led by its leader Raila Odinga, in Rabai, where they got the opportunity to describe a different future for the people of Kilifi.

Joho hailed Amason Kingi saying he has consistently fought for a future in which Kilifians are equal to any other Kenyan from any other parties of the country.

"Raila Odinga and Steven Musyoka are this future," said Joho ahead of the August 8, 2017 general elections.

"A large section of Kilifi County, from Mazeras to Mariakani along the highway, has developed largely due to Port related traffic. The insensitive implementation of the Naivasha Dry Port and the SGR will lead to the death of these towns," Joho told supporters saying a NASA administration would be a caring administration.
