The Amani National Congress (ANC) has maintained that it remains in the opposition and has taken over as the main opposition party.
According to the party Secretary General Barrack Muluka, the March 9 truce between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga and president Uhuru Kenyatta automatically removed Raila from the opposition.
Speaking on Tuesday, he added that the same became even more clear when Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka followed suit late last year, leaving ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as the only standing opposition figure.
"Sisi ndio upinzani na tutafanya kazi yetu inavyostahili (we are the opposition and are ready for the job)," he said.
Muluka was speaking in an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha.
He said that as much ad the party is determined to keep the government in check, it will not shy away from congratulating and supporting it when it takes the right route.
"Iwapo serikali itachukua mkondo mwema basi tutaiunga mkono (we will be ready to support the government when it takes the right direction)," he said.
Mudavadi has been up and about against the government in line with his new role and has been questioning its alerting apatite for loans and failure to combat the graft menace.
