Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said Deputy President William Ruto won't succeed in 'encroaching opposition strongholds ahead of the 2022 elections.

The ODM governor while speaking at on Saturday at Damside Hotel in Nyamira County, a region perceived to be opposition's stronghold said DP Ruto is only loitering in opposition strongholds desperately seeking support in his bid to become President in 2022. 

"Even he (Ruto) makes thousands trips to Nyamira and other regions where opposition has deep roots, he won't get political support in 2022 polls," he said. 

According to him, Ruto is dishing out stolen money at fund drives to woe the electorates. 

He said DP Ruto will find it hard becoming President in 2022 given that a section of Jubilee politicians from Mt. Kenya region won't support his bid. 

Oparanya called on ODM grassroots leaders to focus on strengthening the party ahead of the 2022 polls. 

The ODM allied governor said leadership wrangles in ODM party won't be condoned saying anyone who will go against the party policies and rules will face disciplinary actions. 

"ODM must be strong in readiness to 2022 polls," he added.
