Amendment of chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution on integrity will greatly help in the fight against corruption by ensuring public office bearers adhere to integrity, Ekuru Aukot said.
Aukot, the leader of Thirdway Alliance of Kenya who is spearheading the ‘Punguza Mzigo’ initiative said that is the only way to finish corruption.
Addressing media in Nakuru on Thursday, Aukot said any person mentioned in any scandal should be barred from elective politics.
“Corruption is real in this country and that is why we are saying any person who has been mentioned in any commission of inquiry should be barred from holding public office,” he said.
He also called on agencies tasked with the fight against graft to tighten their belts.
“For me, the weakest league is the executive because it has all the machinery including intelligence which should be used to address the same. Remember the judiciary will only work based on the evidence presented before it,” Aukot said.
The ‘Punguza Mzigo’ initiative, has managed to gather 616,800 signatures against a target of one million signatures.
