An expectant lady student from Maseno University is currently in the ICU at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu after being allegedly assaulted by her lover.
The unsuspecting student who is nearly a month pregnant was ambushed by her boyfriend after she allegedly cheated on him.
According to a witness, the suspect is said to have hit her girlfriend with a glass bottle, during a confrontation at the Sunrise Annex Hostels.
He slammed the lady for sleeping with his roommate and impregnating her in the process.
The suspect who was identified as Evans Nalami is reported to be currently on the run after he learned that Maseno police had initiated a manhunt to arrest him.
No one is sure yet on how he learned about the matter though it seems one of the victim’s confidant might have leaked the information to him.
According to the neighbours, the victim repeatedly denied the claims saying she had no affair with the roommate.
Speaking to the police, Michael Baraka who was accused of 'eating the forbidden fruit', said that the suspect had angrily confronted him on Thursday night before heading to the girls’ hostel.
“He confronted me in the room for sleeping with her girlfriend. When I said I didn’t understand, he headed towards the girls’ room. He's just crazy,” he said.
Maseno President Mike Odoyo urged the comrades to embrace peace and promised that every student will be protected from any kind of mistreatment.
“This is so unfortunate that one of our girls is agonizing right now.
This is not what we are fighting for. We will make sure that justice is provided and every comrade protected,” he told Equator Radio.
