Owino Gendo, man alleged to have impersonated Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i in the fake gold scandal, has for the first time publicly addressed impersonation allegations made against him.
Speaking to the media when he presented himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Owino strongly rebuffed the devastating claims against him.
He said that those who were peddling the allegations were driven by malice, adding that he was currently involved in tax consultancy.
"I am not the fake Matiang'i. My name is Owino Gendo. I am not Matiang'i at all, " he said.
On how he felt on his pictures being shared online, linking him to the fake gold syndicate, he said, " You know, I couldn't comprehend . It's a very bad thing. I have never dealt with... I never knew my name can come up in a wrong way. I am reading malice and politics in it... I don't know anyone dealing with gold scandal. I have never seen gold with my own eyes," Owino said.
On a picture of him with Raila that has been widely shared on social media, Owino confirmed its aunthenticity and said that it had been taken about two years ago.
The government had placed a 10-million-shilling bounty allegedly on Owino's head.
