A 27-year-old man was on Friday arrested over claims of beating to death a 19-year-old butcher.
The incident occurred in Kenonka village, Nyanchwa in Kisii County.
Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet said the suspect identified as Alloys Omache was nabbed at his house on Friday morning.
"The suspect beat the deceased to death on Thursday evening and dumped his body in a nearby nappier grass plantation. The deceased tried to demand Sh100 which the suspect owed him only for Omache to turn against him and started beating him," said Kibet.
Mr Kibet said the body of the deceased was discovered by locals who were going to the farm.
The police boss further revealed that the suspect admitted that he owed the deceased Sh100.
"The suspect revealed to police that he only roughed up the butcher when he demanded the Sh100. The suspect is currently being held at the Kisii Central Police Station and he will be arraigned in court on Monday to be charged with murder," he stated.
Mr Kibet noted that the body of the deceased was moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
