Residents of Mwamosioma area in Kisii County have asked Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i to move with speed and sack area chief Enock Oganda who has been soliciting for bribes from local boda boda riders.
According to the area boda boda chairman Makarios Ogaro, the chief has been moving around with community policing officers to demand for bribes from riders.
"We will not afford to continue giving bribes to the chief yet he is employed by the government earning salary. Matiang'i should sack the rogue chief who has been misusing his position," said Ogaro.
Mr. Ogaro threatened that riders will take unspecified action against the chief if he will not be sacked.
The chairman urged riders not to bribe the chief saying he is not a tax collector.
He appealed to Kisii County Governor James Ongwae to work closely with the national government to repair Kisii-Nyatieko road which is full of potholes.
"As riders we are urging Governor Ongwae to invite Matiang'i so that they can inspect Kisii-Nyatieko road and allocate funds for the road's repair works to be done to ease transportation," he added.
