A Kisii priest has opposed NASA leader Raila Odinga’s referendum calls.
Lawrence Nyaanga on Thursday while speaking in Kisii town said Raila should stop pushing for the referendum because Kenyans have been burdened a lot.
“This is not the right time for Kenyans to go for a referendum due to the increased standards of living. Raila should stop his plans to have the constitution amended to give him an opportunity to vie for Presidency in 2022. It is his time to retire,” he said.
Nyaanga who doubles as the Kisii university chaplain called on politicians to focus on serving the electorates and stop joining Raila’s camp to push for the referendum.
“The Former Prime minister should not get support from politicians because his time is up and should be sent to a permanent retirement to allow young leaders to play politics,” he said.
He insisted that if the referendum sails through taxes are likely to go up thus burdening poor Kenyans.
According to the priest, Raila is misusing the historic handshake by pushing for a referendum.
He said Raila should stop engaging in a war of words with DP Ruto who he trained to become a politician.
