Nandi county governor, Stephen Sang has decided to look for information on the owner of the drug consignment that was destroyed through supervision of government officials including cabinet secretaries and the president in Mombasa in August 2014.
As reported by Citizen digital the governor, through his lawyer, Dunstan Omari, has written to international and local security agencies seeking the ownership information so that he can use it to respond to the suit filed against him for defamation by Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Mr.Sang has written to the interior and defence cabinet secretaries.
Copies of the Governor's letter have also been sent to the director of the criminal investigation, the Ethics and Anticorruption Commission and registrar of the Kenyan judiciary.
He wants to know why the identity of the owner of the load is concealed.
Governor Joho has filed a suit against governor Sang and members of parliament, Sudi and Ichungwa for linking him to drug peddling.
“On or about 29th August 2014, the State under the supervision of the President, various Cabinet Secretaries, the Inspector General of Police blew up a luxury hatch referred to as Amin Darya or MV Alnoor that had been laden with 370.8 kilograms of heroin valued at Ksh.1.3 billion, this was a bold move to declare war against drugs trafficking,” reads a letter by Sang as reported by Citizen Digital.
