President Uhuru Kenyatta may have after all dumped leaders from his Rift Valley stronghold, argues political pundit Gideon Mamboleo.

With Uhuru's focus geared towards cementing his legacy, Mamboleo says, the partnership with Raila Odinga is all he needs to fulfil his desires.

"Raila commands a lot of following in the country. Having him on the same table was Uhuru's greatest achievement."

And to that effect, he adds, the Kalenjin nation, which backed his leadership both in 2017 and 2013, may not be 'important' anymore.

To justify the claim, Mamboleo says the recent functions by Uhuru in Rift Valley region indicates that he's not longer interested with the leaders demands to have William Ruto as his successor.

"In Kapsabet, he dodged from backing Ruto following calls by local leaders and instead, he asked them to work for the people.

"At Bomet a day later, State House operatives locked local leaders from addressing the crowd in Uhuru's presence, a strong indicator that he has moved on without them," he adds.

The Bomet function last week saw seven MPs protest from the function and subsequently hold a parallel rally where they accused programme organisers of undermining them.

The leaders had reportedly planned to confront Uhuru about Mau Forest evictions, which be apparently pledged before elections to issue injunction.
