Former presidential contender Abduba Dida has urged Deputy President William Ruto to sack officials in charge of his social media platforms.
Dida claimed the officials were behind a controversial tweet on Friday that criticized Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga over the expulsion of Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa from the opposition outfit.
In the post, which has elicited mixed reactions online, Raila was accused of blackmailing Jumwa to "kneel and worship him as an apology" for having associated with the Deputy President.
"You who've masqueraded as champions of women, now in your true colors expel a woman elected in her own right after defeating men and blackmail her to kneel and worship you as an 'apology'. Crime? Associating with elected DP of GoK you have 'handshake' with. Tragically deceitful," read the post on Ruto's official Twitter account.
However, according to Dida, the tweet could not have come from the DP personally but from people employed to manage his social media accounts.
He said although Ruto and Raila have been engaging in a war of words, the tweet was offensive and unnecessary.
"The DP should fire his social media handlers! They are taking some jokes too far!" the two-time presidential aspirant tweeted.
ODM, through spokesperson Philip Etale, has since responded to the accusations saying Jumwa was ejected after going against party rules and regulations which she had committed to observing.
