CAPTION: The elders allegedly aided foreigners acquire IDs.[Photo: Citizen TV]Police in Garissa have arrested seven village elders for illegally facilitating the issuance of identity documents to foreigners.According to the security officers, the elders have confessed of assisting the foreigners after being bribed with money and camels.The suspects were produced in court on Thursday where police sought custodial orders to allow for more investigations into the activities.The Standard reports that the suspects were later taken to Nairobi for grilling."There are indications of existence of a syndicate in the counties of Garissa, Wajir and Mandera that is targeting elders to facilitate foreigners acquire Kenyan identification documents," a police officer aware of the probe told The Standard.One of the foreigners assisted by the elders was recently arrested with bomb-making, according to detectives.
