Hours after Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu was arrested over tax evasion among other crimes, a section of leaders have openly expressed their opinions on the matter.
Mrs. Mwilu, is accused of money laundering from collapsed Imperial Bank and is the Deputy President of the Supreme Court.
But a Borabu based politician Patrick Osero, suggestively said the move was politically instigated adding that Mwilu did not deserve to be arrested.
"I think they arrested a wrong deputy president. Perhaps this is a warm up for the real culprit," he said.
Similar sentiments were shared by criminal justice lawyer Wilkins Ochoki who claimed that it emanated from politics from within JSC.
"These are pure politics from within and outside JSC. The DPP missed the point but let's wait and see how this goes," he said adding that a wrong deputy was arrested.
Interestingly, the two could have been referring to DP William Ruto, who has for a long time been linked to corruption deals.
At an interview with NTV, Ruto dismissed claims that he has been engaging in unscrupulous deals.
"I, William Ruto, I want to assure the public that I have never engaged in corrupt deals. I live an honest life."
