An elected MP has reacted after ODM's candidate withdrew from the Wajir West by-election slated for April 25, 2019.
Bonchari MP John Oyioka while speaking at Suneka on Tuesday evening said Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement party could not take another loss.
"ODM lost in the recently concluded mini polls in Ugenya and Embakasi South and this is the main reason the party resolved to have their candidate withdraw from the Wajir West by-election to hide the shame. The party withdrew from the by-election in fear of humilation," he said.
The PDP Party allied MP said time has come when the electorate will not be voting for leaders based on their political parties.
He argued that ODM has lost fame in the country's politics.
"ODM party is no longer a party of choice because Kenyans are tired of voting for people based on their political parties. I won the MP seat during the 2017 polls on the small party because I sold my development ideologies well to the people," he stated.
Oyioka appealed to local politicians to be development-oriented instead of fighting for party tickets from big political parties.
