Defence Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Raychelle Omamo on Tuesday, flagged off four civilian staff vehicles at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Nairobi.
The vehicles were dispatched to Kahawa and Embakasi Garrisons as well as the Kenya Navy - Mtongwe Base whereas the fourth one will serve the DHQ staff.
Omamo said the vehicles will support the mobility of the civilian staff deployed in three Civilian Administrative Clusters that were established by the Ministry of Defence last year.
She disclosed that more civilian staff have been deployed to various military camps to support their uniformed counterparts as they engage in their core mandate of protecting and defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kenya.
Present during the event were the Defence Principal Secretary Saitoti Torome, among other senior ministry staff.
Meanwhile, the outgoing AMISOM Sector 2 Commander Brigadier Joakim Mwamburi has officially handed over office to the incoming Sector Commander Brig. Dickson Ruto at a ceremony in Dhobley, Somalia.
Brig. Ruto becomes the Commander for the 8th Kenyan contingent to be deployed in Somalia under AMISOM.
