On Saturday, Ruto launched Mpirani Primary School in Kwale County, hosted by Governor Salim Mvurya, a platform that gave several leaders an opportunity to disown opposition leader and declare their support for Ruto.

Below is a list of the leaders and what they said during the event:

1. Aisha Jumwa (ODM) - Malindi MP.

She asked Coast residents to chart their own political path and support leaders who have their interests in mind.

“We did not vote for Jubilee last year (2017) but the deputy president is with us on matters development. The time for someone to play with our politics is over. We are not waiting anymore for anyone to tell us where we are going because we already know where we are ahead of 2022."

2. Mohammed Ali (Independent) - Nyali MP.

He said the Coast had been left behind in matters development for too long due to political rhetoric and that it is time to work with the government.

3. Benjamin Tayari (ODM) - Kinango MP.

“We (Coast residents) should say 'no' to leaders who want to use us as a ladder to achieve their selfish gains while offering us nothing in development. Mr Ruto has stood with us at all times. We have to support him for the presidency in 2022.”

4. Suleiman Dori (ODM) - Msambweni MP.

“This time round, we have decided to support Ruto and Jubilee Party for the sake of development. This region can only be built by leaders who have the interests of our people at heart."

5. Owen Baya (ODM) - Kilifi North MP.

He asked the Mijikenda community to prepare to chart its own political path ahead of 2022 general election.

"2022 will not be business as usual in national politics. We have been misused for a long time. We have to change tack and support Ruto so as to be part of the next government."

6. Ali Mbogo (Wiper) - Kisauni MP.

He said Kenyans are tired of Odinga’s political theatrics.

“Indications are that Odinga will contest in 2022. We want to tell him as early as this not to count on our support. We have given him enough support. It is time we supported Ruto."
