President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday met West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo who has gained popularity for his ‘Kijana fupi amenona round’ remarks.
The President bumped into the governor at former President Daniel Moi’s Kabarak home where he had gone to offer his condolences to the bereaved family.
In a short video circulating online, President Uhuru Kenyatta is seen imitating the governor’s humorous remarks.
“Kijana fupi, amenona, round, huwezi jua tumbo ni wapi na mgongo ni wapi. Hana kazi, hana kazi,” Governor Lonyangapuo said two weeks ago in reference to one of his critics in the county.
It loosely translates to in English: "A short young man who is very fat to the extent that you cannot differentiate between his stomach and back. He does not have a job."
It is believed the person who was being described in the phrase was former MCA aspirant in West Pokot county Dennis Ruto Kapchok.
Shortly after meeting the President, Governor Lonyangapuo took to Twitter to express the joy of meeting him.
“We had a hearty laugh when HE President Uhuru Kenyatta joked about the Mulmulwas phrase during our chat,” the governor tweeted.
The leaders had come together to mourn the death of Jonathan Moi who is the first born son to former President Daniel Moi.
Jonathan passed on on Saturday at Mediheal Hospital in Nakuru. He succumbed to cancer.
