The decision by the ODM party to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has now left its leader Raila Odinga facing an awkward political dilemma in his bid to retain the Coast region's popular political support he has enjoyed for over 10 years now.

Jumwa, the outspoken MP was expelled a fortnight ago amid claims of gross misconduct.

However, the decision by the Orange party has elicited mixed reactions with a section of the region's politicians now 'inciting' the residents against the party.

To make things worse for the former Prime Minister is Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi's stand on the move to expel the embattled MP.

A key Raila defender, Kingi probably the region's most powerful politician recently alleged that he was not consulted by the party before a decision to expel Jumwa was adopted.

“I didn't attend the NDC because I told myself I had followed up the matter from the Disciplinary Committee to the NEC but it bore no fruit. ... I had intervened in the matter with wisdom and respect but hit the wall,”  Kingi said during International Women's Day meeting  in Ganze constituency on Friday.

He even vowed never to support ODM candidate in case of a by-election. So, is Raila staring at a defeat in Coast even as pressure piles on the party to expel Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori?
