Religious leaders in Subukia Sub County have called on Kenya National Highway Authority-KeNHA to erect Bumps on the Nakuru-Subukia-Nyahururu Highway to avert accidents on the busy Highway.

They spoke on Monday morning during cleansing prayer conducted on the busy Nakuru-Subukia-Nyahururu Highway.

Led by Rev.Simon Gicheru, the leaders while citing the recent accident that claimed the lives of a couple near Subukia Centre said they have engaged the stakeholders in the transport industry to address the same.

“We are gathered here to cleanse this road after we witnessed a lot of accidents the recent claiming a couple. We have also engaged the concerned authority on the same so that we can have bumps erected especially at the slope towards Subukia centre” said Rev.Gicheru.

Sentiments echoed by Rev.James Waweru who decried the numerous lives that have been lost on the road.

He called on motorists using the Nakuru-Subukia-Nyahururu Highway to careful and observe the simple traffic rules so as to avert more accidents.

“We are calling on the motorists using this road and any other road in the country to be careful and observe traffic rules to avert more accidents,” he said.

Martha Wangui-a resident in the area reiterating that indeed several accidents have been witnessed in the area.

While noting that the Nakuru-Subukia-Nyahururu Highway was paramount to the economy of the country through the connection, Ms Wangui stated that she has faith after the cleansing no more accidents will be witnessed in the area.

“We have lost our loved ones on this road but with the cleansing, we now have faith the devil has no room,” she said.
