After months of defending Deputy President William Ruto, all indications are that Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has parted ways with team Tangatanga.
Last month, Chege was one of the leaders who were pushing for a prayer rally organised by the DP in Kenol, contrary to feelings of many MPs allied to Kieleweke team.
The prayer rally was reportedly cancelled after the intervention of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has in the past warned his deputy against early 2022 campaigns.
“Since the meeting could be seen to antagonise President Uhuru Kenyatta, it was postponed to a day that would be communicated. Although there was no such an agenda, people might interpret it in the wrong way,” Chege said about the prayers.
The DP and his team have been traversing the country in what critics say are well planned campaigns which could sabotage Uhuru's agenda.
At an event attended by over 25 MPs in Kenol on Friday, Chege seemingly took a swipe at DP Ruto's team, accusing it of sabotaging Uhuru's development agenda through early campaigns.
"We expect entire Kenya in Murang'a. We are preaching the good will message about peace, cohesion, working together and supporting the president's development agenda. We as mothers of this nation, we are tired of politics. We are tired of people going round and talking about politics and nothing else. Let's support Uhuru's agenda," she said in a message directed to DP Ruto.
The 25 MPs present at the function are staunch supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's Handshake, another indication that the second term vocal MP has shifted her loyalty.
Team Embrace Kenya constitutes of women leaders supporting the Handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga. DP Ruto has in the past expressed his reservations on the handshake.
