The father of slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno is confident that justice will be served after the murder of their daughter.
“It is my prayer that justice will be served for Sharon. I pray for justice because I know the court will deliver,” Douglas Otieno told K24 news on Monday.
He was speaking shortly after Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his two aides were charged afresh for the murder of Sharon and her unborn baby last month.
The three denied the charges, and were remanded until Friday, when High Court judge Jessie Lessit will deliver on their application for bail.
Earlier, Sharon’s mother Melida Auma filed an application urging the court not to release Obado on bail.
“The thought that those accused of killing our daughter can be freed during trial is chilling, a situation not helped by the fact that, as family members, we are possible witnesses in this matter,’’ she said in the affidavit.
“I pray to the Honorable Court to balance request for bail against the greater public interest to find the killers of Sharon and her unborn child; and to determine that the grant of bail will undermine the latter,” she added.
