Joram Lemaiyan, a student at Moi University student could be the next poet of the year or blogger of the year after he was nominated in the two categories for this year's Ultimate Varsity Awards.
The Ultimate Varsity Awards (UVA) which began in 2017 sets to recognise the efforts, abilities and talents of the university students through online voting on a designated website.
Lemaiyan who is pursuing economics at the Kesses-based institution was nominated in the poetry category following a series of performances in several shows, one being the World AIDS day held at Moi University, Kitale Campus where he was the talk of the day after reciting an AIDS-related poem.
In an exclusive interview with Lemaiyan, he reveals that he is happy that his efforts and talents have been recognised by UVA.
"I am happy that my efforts in poetry and blogging have been recognised through the UVA awards and this is an inspiration to me to do more so as not only to develop my hobbies but also use them to pass important messages to the people," he says.
While appealing to his fans to vote for him, (through a one-minute click on https://artgalore.co.ke/uva-2019/) Joram has insisted that whatever the outcome of the results; he will continue with his poetry and blogging.
"To my fans, I am appealing that you vote for me in the two categories; category 13 which is blogger of the year and category, 15 which is the poet of the year. Whatever the results, that is if I win now or have a postponed win, I will continue with my poetry and blogging in an improved form," he contends.
