Joho started by explaining why it was necessary to start the national reconciliation at the coast through the building bridges initiative championed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Joho lauded the unity of coastal leaders across the political divide.

The Mombasa governor stated the importance of coastal region to unite explaining that the area had numerous problems that needed solutions. He advised coast residents to solve their own problems and stop the unnecessary 2022 politicking.

Joho urged coast leaders to believe in themselves and start have a national outlook. He challenged them to start holding national rallies beyond the coastal zone. The ODM deputy party leader told the locals that they are the foundation of their leaders and a force that should bring change in their villages.

The culture of ever supporting others annoyed him and he asked coast leaders to start having big ambitions and stop being used by leaders from other regions. He said that coastal counties must unite and head in one direction.

Governor Joho reminded leaders that they have to do something for coast residents to have an admirable legacy.
