Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko has send a strong message to Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i over a spike in femicides involving scores of women.
Speaking in Nairobi County during a presser, the tough-talking legislator said that women across the country were tired of hearing reports of other women being murdered in cold blood.
"We are telling Fred Matiang'i and the government that we are against the wall. Women we are crying. Women we are tired.
"Every day we are seeing on television a woman has been butchered, a woman has been strangled, a woman has been thrown into the ocean. If it's about love, it should be voluntary," a visibly incensed Mboko said.
The outspoken MP called on Kenyans to join in the efforts against gender-based violence.
Mboko's strong words come in the wake of rising cases of cold-blood murders in the country.
The presser was graced by scores of female leaders who condemned violence against women.
The leaders are set to hold a vigil for victims of gender-based violence at the University of Nairobi.
Those intending to attend the vigil have been urged to put on white and pink dresses, a sartorial statement against violence against women.
