President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday hosted the Prime Minister of Fiji Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, President Salva Kiir of South Sudan, and the Prime Minister of Yemen Dr Moeen Abdul Malik Saeed.

The trio arrived in the country for the High Level Segment of the first session of the UN Habitat Assembly at the UN Complex in Gigiri.

President Kenyatta formally opened the first UN-Habitat Assembly on Tuesday. 

The five-day event is expected to attract over 3,000 delegates from all corners of the world. 

The members include business leaders, representatives of civil societies, mayors of cities, and representatives from commonwealth countries.

During the opening session, President Kenyatta reminded the attendees to root for sustainable urbanization, as well as innovative solutions to problems facing the member states.

Ms Martha Delgado was elected President of the UN-Habitat Assembly unopposed during the first session of the meeting.

She assured the members that she will serve them with diligence without any form of favor or fear. 

“I would like to stress my deepest appreciation to all the Member States that have bestowed this honour on my country, Mexico, by electing me as President,” she said moments after election.
