Political analyst Ambrose Weda has revealed that opposition leader Raila Odinga is in no position to reject his newfound diplomatic role in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.

This comes only days after the former Prime Minister represented the nation in India, apparently with Uhuru’s blessings, after an initial peace negotiation role in South Sudan and South Africa.

Speaking on KBC English Service on Wednesday, Weda said that Odinga’s political placement and earlier pledges of his goodwill for the nation cannot allow him to reject any responsibility aimed at benefiting the country.

‘’He shouldn’t be expected to reject the responsibilities because of his initial enmity with the President as he will simply be asked how he then intends to serve the nation now that he is not in power and did not achieve his presidential ambition. This is the only way he can prove his goodwill for the country’’ he said.

In his latest diplomatic assignment, the National Super Alliance (NASA) chief held talks with the nation’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the two agreed on the need of a greater cooperation between Kenya and India in maritime transport and agriculture.

Odinga and Kenyatta engaged each other in a fierce battle in the August 8 presidential election before Raila moved to court to challenge Uhuru’s re-election but the President regained his win in the October 26 repeat poll.
