According to the lead consultant surgeon Dr. Karuri Maina, the 5-hour surgery was performed to Marvin Odhiambo by a team of 12 specialists from the county.

Odhiambo who had been hit from behind by a lorry while on the Bodaboda on his way home is said to have been admitted at the hospital on that Friday night and on Saturday the patient was referred to Kitale for city scan.

At Kitale, after the doctors' examination, the patient was advised to undergo the surgery that is when the doctors from Kapenguria referral hospital requested the patient to be brought back to the hospital for the surgery.

Dr. Karuri noted that the patient was out of danger and was recuperating well at the facility.

“When the patient was brought in the hospital, he was bleeding a lot which formed a clot in the brain. We had no option but to conduct a brain surgery which turned out to be successful,” he said while expressing the need for a more human resource at the county hospital.

The father of the patient Ibrahim Matende said he had no hopes of his son surviving because he was not able to walk, talk or eat.

“I am delighted to see my son recognizing people and responding positively to treatment. We thank a team of 12 doctors who conducted the surgery on Monday night” he said.
