Residents of Omosocho village in Kiogutwa, Manga, Nyamira County are yet to come to terms after a chief allegedly sold a piece of land belonging to his brother who has never married.
Shocked residents led by Ibrahim Gwaro accused the chief (his name withheld) for taking advantage of his brother to sell his land without involving him.
"The chief has been acting as a dictator in the village. He sold his brother's piece of land claiming that his brother has no child to inherit the land because he has refused to marry," said Gwaro.
Mr Gwaro stated that residents are planning to protest to Nyamira County commissioner's office over the chief's decision to sell land which doesn't belong to him.
"The chief has until Monday next week to refund the money to the buyer who bought his brother's land failure to which we will hold a mother of demo to push him stop misusing his brother's property," he added.
Mary Isaboke wondered why the chief could sell the land yet he is employed earning monthly salary.
"It is unacceptable for the chief to sell the land. He must respect his brother's property," said Isaboke.
She said elderly women will strip naked to curse the chief if he won't refund the money he sold the land.
