Somber mood ruled the airwaves across major bars and night clubs in Eldoret town as rhumba music of the late Mose Fan Fan played.
The late Fan Fan is popularly known for his hit song Papa Lolo.
Fan Fan died in Nairobi on Saturday, during his one week music tour to Kenya. His producer Tabu Osusa confirmed the news to the media.
A section of Eldoret residents mourned Fan Fan terming him a rhumba legend.
“I am so sad and annoyed. We have lost a rhumba icon and I love rhumba music, let him rest in peace”, said John Kibet.
Joyce Achieng, a reveler at club Signature, said “I am so sad at the rate we are losing rhumba legends, God remember the rhumba family, I hope Mose will shine on his way; tonight we are here to pay special tribute to him, he was my inspiration for real”.
At Belasco lounge, and Bubbles Inn, fans danced to the tunes of the departed hero.
“All we can say is let him rest in peace and long live his music," noted Isaiah Tanui.
“That is a special moment for Kenya because he has a lot of fans in Kenya and he has died in Kenya while on duty, the government should honour him”, said Edward Kosut, a freelance journalist in Eldoret.
Sylviah Rono, a rhumba fan, at Who's pub could only cry, as she danced to Mose’s tunes and shouted “long live Papa Lolo”.
