The family of businessman Jimi Wanjigi is embroiled in a legal tussle over Sh 56 million.
Businessman Yogesh Patel has sued Wanjigi and a couple of other individuals for allegedly defrauding him.
Patel has accused Wanjigi, his wife, and their two firms of using a shell company to rob him of the said amount.
The businessman claims that Wanjigi approached him to deposit the amount for a controversial piece of land in Nairobi’s Westlands suburb.
He also alleges that he is yet to receive documentation of the 0.818-acre piece of land despite making partial payments as agreed.
Patel claims that Aureum Ltdm which is co-owned by Wanjigi, his wife Irene Nzisa and Augustine Kairo Thuo, had advertised the sale of the property before he opted to purchase the same.
He also states that he was shocked to realize that the piece of land, which had been valued at Sh260 million in June last year, has since been transferred to another person but he is yet to get back his money.
The businessman is worried that the land is likely to be part of the parcel that have been reclaimed by the government under the flagship of the 2006 Ndung’u Land Report.
A report on Daily Nation has, however, confirmed that the parcel is not among those marked to be returned to the government.
The new owner of the land is Cissy Kalunde Musembi.
The complainant now wants the transaction reversed so that he can get back his money.
