Mzee Moi registered for the number at Kabarnet Gardens Nairobi.

According to a press release from the ex-president’s communication team, Moi was taken through the registration by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.

His son Gideon Moi was also present.

Friday witnessed a high turnout for the registration in many parts of the country as the government announced there will be no extension for the registration after tomorrow, May 18.

There are long queues at the archives registration point along Moi Avenue as well as at the GPO registration point.

“I was here at 4am and there is a very long queue. I do not know what will happen, I think we will sleep here unless the government adds more kits,” Geoffrey Kimani said.

Others asked the government to extend the registration.

“Registration has been so slow. It takes more than 40 minutes to register one person. The government didn’t have enough manpower to handle this and must extend the deadline,” Eric Oketch said.

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i said the government will not extend the registration.

“Kenyans need to know that we are paying those conducting this exercise Sh1,000 a day and in case we extend by a day then it means we are going to spend a little more money, “ said Matiangi.
