Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has hit out at Governor Mike Sonko over poor leadership.
In an interview on Radio Citizen Monday morning, Sakaja expressed his dissatisfaction with Sonko's leadership, pointing at a possible ongoing row regarding the approaching 2022 general elections.
He blamed the governor for slow development and poor service delivery, attributing it to Sonko's alleged inability to create a proper delivery team of officers.
''Watu hawajafurahia na pia mimi nimekasirika maana hata tunapojaribu kuleta mabadiliko wapo wanaoleta sarakasi. Sonko anaweza kazi lakini ameshindwa kuunda timu nzuri ya kumsaidia kufanya kazi.
(We are disappointed that our efforts are being taken for granted. It is also evident that the Governor is to blame for the slow progress due to his inability to deploy a better delivery team),'' said Sakaja.
He also partly opposed the ongoing demolitions of condemned buildings and structures, faulting Sonko's team for bringing down business stalls operated by low-income earners and the youth.
''Mimi sina shida na majumba kubomolewa, lakini kaunti isibomoe stalls za biashara maana hao vijana kesho wakikosa kazi watafanya nini? (the county should not demolish business stalls which employ our youth who do not have any other means of generating income),'' he advised.
Sakaja further called for political calm, pointing out that his efforts are in no way connected to the 2022 debate, urging his colleagues in leadership to concentrate on service to the people.
Watu wasione nafanya mabadiliko wafikiri ni kuhusu 2022. Mimi sijatangaza chochote kuhusiana na siasa za 2022 (my efforts do not have any relatiosnhip with the 2022 elections, I have not made any declarations regarding 2022),'' he added.
